NLA donates to more than 150 charitable organizations.

The Government of Liberia through the National Lottery Authority has completed donations of consignments of food and non-food items valued at over One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US$100.000) to more than One Hundred Fifty (150) charitable institutions including Old Folks, Orphans, Disabled Organizations and individuals, as well as Scientific and Public Welfare Organizations.

In accordance with sections 6.1.2 of NLA’s ACT of 2014, the consignment was in fulfilment of the Authority’s shared commitment to improving the living conditions and livelihoods of less-fortunate individuals not only through food donations, but academic and vocational training opportunities for self-empowerment.

Over the years, Lottery has continued to institute appropriate empowerment opportunities for the physically challenged mainly through their Mother Organization; The National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NUOD). Such opportunities are tailored in the areas of business, academic and TVET empowerments.

NLA just ended festive donation targeted charitable institutions in at least Nine Counties of Liberia including; Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and Grand Bassa. Others included Margibi, Bong, Nimba and Lofa Counties respectively.

NLA’s Director General, Hon. Reginald K. Nagbe, speaking during the official launch of the Authority’s December 2024 charity package, disclosed that the institution’s programs are tailored under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) of the Government of Liberia as its collective shared national responsibility to improving the living standard of Liberians.

For their part, beneficiaries in the listed targeted Counties in excitements, appreciated the Government of Liberia through the NLA for identifying with them especially during the festive seasons (Christmas and New Year celebrations). 

The distribution process which lasted more than three weeks, was coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare of the NLA headed by Mr. Mohammed Saylee Kamara.
